This highly detailed print of the Battlefield Map of Gettysburg is unique in that the Federal Troops are in Red and Confederate Troops are in Blue color.

On the first day of the battle, July 1, Confederate forces clashed with Union forces in the town of Gettysburg. The fighting continued throughout the day, but the worst was yet to come.

On the second day of the battle, July 2, the fighting continued as the Confederates attempted to flank the Union army and gain the high ground on Cemetery Ridge. The Union army was able to hold their position, but at great cost, as both sides suffered heavy casualties.

On the third and final day of the battle, July 3, the Union army successfully repulsed a Confederate assault on Cemetery Ridge known as Picketts Charge, effectively ending the battle. The Battle of Gettysburg was the deadliest battle of the Civil War, with over 51,000 casualties. It is remembered as a turning point in the war, as the Union's victory turned the tide of the war.
